Book Signing

Adam Federman, the author of Fasting and Feasting: The Life of Visionary Food Writer Patience Gray, will be at the Adirondack Artists Guild on Friday evening, January 12, to sign copies of his book. There will be a reception from 4:30-6:30 with light refreshments. At 5:30 he will speak about the book and how he came to write it.

Federman was born and raised in Saranac Lake, attended high school here, and is a member of the board of directors of the Adirondack Explorer. He is a reporting fellow with the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute. His writing has appeared in the Washington Post, Slate, the Nation magazine and other publications. Fasting and Feasting, his first book, was named a New York Times notable book for 2017 and one of the Guardian’s best food books of the year. He has been a Russia Fulbright fellow, a Middlebury fellow in environmental journalism, and the recipient of a Polk grant for investigative reporting. A former line cook, bread baker, and pastry chef, he lives in Vermont.

Jessie Fischer, owner of the Book Nook, Saranac Lake’s new bookstore at 7a Broadway, will be on hand to sell the books.

Recipes from Patience Gray’s book “Honey from a Weed” will be the inspiration for a $25 prix fixe supper that evening at the Left Bank Cafe 36 Broadway.  Reservations recommended.  Call 354-8166.
